This handsomely illustrated companion to the exhibit presents 45 masterworks from the collections of the Rijksmuseum Twenthe in Enschede, Netherlands, and the National Museum of Wildlife Art by a group of artists known as the Big Four – Carl Rungius, Richard Friese, Wilhelm Kuhnert, and Bruno Liljefors. The artwork is accompanied by insightful essays written by leading conservationists, scholars, and curators. From Tanzania to the Arctic to the Wind Rivers, these artists captured a vision of wildlife and wilderness that remains with us to this day.
